Other view of the pyroxenite thin section dominated by
the large orthopyroxene low birefringence crystals. At the center
of this picture, some high birefringence material appears. This material
is not colorless in thick section (thus it is not olivine) but is green
colored (see picture below crystals marked by arrows). The diagram below
is the spectrum of these small green crystals. The high absorption peak
appears at higher wavelength, above 1000 nm. This material is probably
clinopyroxene. The green color of those crystals is produced by the peak
at 650 nm which could be due to the presence of Cr3+.
