Mica schist from the Alps, France
This section of mica schist has been cut along the schistosity plane. The rocks is mainly composed of quartz and biotite. Some biotite crystals lie nearly in the orientation of the cleavage plane.
and show an acute bisectrix image in convergent light examination and low birefringence colors. Some feldspath with alterations can also be observed.
