Migmatite, Auvergne, France
Migmatite is a partly molten rock consisting of a solidified liquid (clear color) + a refractory residue (dark color). The picture below is a crossed polars view of the black part of the rock: the solid residue. The picture shows amphiboles and weathered feldspars.
